Workshop Details

Workshop 1: Validating Your Problem and Your Solution

  1. Ability to ideate, describe, evaluate and discuss a business model using the Business Model Canvas
  2. Use BMC framework and storyboards to evaluate the effectiveness of Customer Relationships and Channels
  3. Understanding of business type and how to evaluate Key Activities, Resources, and Partnerships in this context

Workshop 2: Pitching Your Solution and Strategy

During this workshop, you’ll learn how to develop an effective pitch that explains the value of your product/service. Then, working in small groups, business and marketing professionals will help you to craft your very own elevator pitch. You will walk away with messaging that will help you effectively reach your target audience.

Senior executives, strategists, innovation managers, entrepreneurs, consultants or business coaches; anyone looking for hands-on tools to apply to their business models. We welcome participants at any level of experience with our methodology, from beginner to advanced.

How should I prepare?

Preparation & Prerequisites: The casual user can simply print out the Canvas using the PDF below, grab a few index cards (or sheets of paper) and follow the steps given in the PDF.

Dr. Short is an experienced engineer/entrepreneur/educator.  Currently President of SJS, Inc. a 23-year old holding company with a variety of business interests, Dr. Short has significant product development and startup experience in both private sector and DoD environments.
