It has been reported that the wood jointer in the shop may be in need of some maintenance.

The projected schedule is for it to be looked at on Monday.

    Please be mindful.

Jim and I took a quick look but nothing was obvious. Definitely needs a detailed inspection.

I spoke to Josh last night at the space, He said he removed alot of saw dust around the motor bearings and that freed it up some, But it still needs work and maybe some oiling. Need to find the maintenance manual. I think Sears Craftsmen charges for their manuals. I will do a search to see what I can find.

    Found a manual: See Attached:

    1. The bearings, in both end shields of the motor, have
been lubricated at the factory with correct lubricant.
No other part of the motor requires lubrication.

    2. Re-lubricate motor bearings in accordance with the
instructions on the nameplate. Be sure to wipe off dirt
or grit if present around oil hole caps to prevent any
possibility of foreign material contaminating the oil
wicks that supply the bearings with oil. Use a good
grade of medium weight mineral oil, such as automobile
    engine oil, SAE 20.

Any chance you can upload the manual on a wiki page so that we have it for posterity?

The attachment to the forum post does not seem to work. I posted it to the wiki. See here: http://wiki.paxspace.org/index.php?title=File:CRAFTSMAN_CRAFTSMAN_6-INCH_JOINTER-PLANER.pdf
